The Senior Events Electrician role at the first direct arena provides onsite technical support during events covering music, comedy, sport, exhibitions and conferences. The applicant will act as event electrician on show days covering either the load in or show and load out.

The successful applicant will be responsible for reactive maintenance in the Venue and supporting other departments to maintain a safe venue which clients and customers enjoy visiting.

The role will manage an Event Electrician, allocate workload and train and develop knowledge within the team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation and removal of temporary power, demonstrating competency and knowledge of BS7671 and BS7909. Providing support and assistance to visiting event organisers and Productions.
  • Operation of the buildings BMS system.
  • React and attend to repairs and breakdowns reported by staff and clients. These include electrical faults and failures, plumbing and sanitary, door and woodwork repairs, decorating.
  • Weekly and scheduled checks of water systems, emergency lighting and venue walk rounds.
  • Have a basic understanding on venue plant services and systems within the Venue (eg. HVAC // Heating and Cooling).
  • To operate a CAFM system as directed to track and coordinate maintenance activities. Receiving, updating and closing off requests and maintaining records. (Training will be given)
  • Supervise and monitor the performance of external contractor’s works.
  • To assess the requirements for and maintain stock levels and replenishment of critical spare parts and components.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture and ensure all work activities comply with ASM Global Health and Safety policies and procedures as well as pre-event checks prior to each event.
  • Review and maintain current venue Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH Assessments and ensure compliance against control measures.
  • Uphold a high level of work to maintain the high standards expected by both customers and clients.
  • Direct supervision of Event Electrician. Manage rotas, time, work schedules and provide training to assist their development.
  • Provide support to the centralised Engineering HUB team who are responsible for Contracted Maintenance across ASM Venues.

Skills and Qualifications

  • An engineering qualification to NVQ Level 3/C&G/ONC or completion of BS7909 together with suitable experience.
  • Evidence of knowledge of BS7671 and BS7909 in relation to electrical systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of portable appliance and fixed appliance testing.
  • Experience of using Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance.
  • Previous Experience within the Events industry preferred.
  • A positive can-do attitude and ensure provision of the best possible service to both visitors and clients.
  • Competent with the use of Microsoft Office applications eg. Excel // Word
  • Awareness of Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) Software Systems (Training will be given)
  • Recent Counter balance Fork Lift Truck training and IPAF are desirable.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the role there will be a requirement to work week-ends, evenings and public holidays. The role will involve physical labour tasks including manual handling.

There may be a requirement to travel to other ASM Global Venues.
